TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — An Israeli hospital says Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has undergone successful prostate surgery. Jerusalem’s Hadassah Medical Center said his prostate was removed late Sunday. Netanyahu was placed under full anesthesia for the procedure. Doctors said he was awake and recovering Sunday night. Netanyahu’s office had said Justice Minister Yariv Levin, a close ally, would serve as acting prime minister during the procedure. Doctors ordered the operation after detecting an infection last week. Netanyahu is expected to remain hospitalized for several days. THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. AP’s earlier story follows below. TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is having his prostate removed on Sunday, his office said, a procedure that comes as he manages multiple crises including the war in Gaza and his trial for alleged corruption . Netanyahu, who has had a series of health issues in recent years, has gone to great lengths to bolster a public image of himself as a healthy, energetic leader. During his trial this month, he boasted about working 18-hour days, accompanied by a cigar. But as Israel's longest-serving leader, such a grueling workload over a total of 17 years in power could take a toll on his well-being. Netanyahu, 75, is among older world leaders including U.S. President Joe Biden, 82 , President-elect Donald Trump, 78 , Brazil's President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva , 79, and Pope Francis , 88, who have come under scrutiny for their age and health issues. Netanyahu's latest condition is common in older men, but the procedure has had some fallout. The judges overseeing his trial accepted a request from his lawyer on Sunday to call off three days of testimony scheduled this week. The lawyer, Amit Hadad, had argued that Netanyahu would be fully sedated for the procedure and hospitalized for “a number of days.” Netanyahu's office said Justice Minister Yariv Levin, a close ally, would serve as acting prime minister during the procedure. With so much at stake, Netanyahu’s health in wartime is a concern for both Israelis and the wider world. A turbulent time in the region As Israel’s leader, Netanyahu is at the center of major global events that are shifting the Middle East . With the dizzying pace of the past 14 months, being incapacitated for even a few hours can be risky. Netanyahu will be in the hospital at a time when international mediators are pushing Israel and Hamas to reach a ceasefire in Gaza and as fighting between Israel and Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels intensifies . Prostate issues are common and in many cases easily treatable. Still, the procedure puts a dent in Netanyahu’s image of vigor at a time when he would want to project strength more than ever, both to an Israeli audience navigating constant threats as well as to Israel’s enemies looking to expose its weaknesses. Previous health issues, including a heart condition Netanyahu insists he is in excellent health. His office releases footage of him touring war zones in full protective gear flanked by military officers, or meeting with defense officials on windswept hilltops in youthful dark shades and puffer jackets. But that image was shattered last year when Netanyahu’s doctors revealed that he had a heart condition , a problem that he had apparently long known about but concealed from the public. A week after a fainting spell, Netanyahu was fitted with a pacemaker to control his heartbeat. Only then did staff at the Sheba Medical Center reveal that Netanyahu has for years experienced a condition that can cause irregular heartbeats. The revelation came as Netanyahu was dealing with massive anti-government protests. The news about a chronic heart problem stoked further anger and distrust during extreme political polarization in Israel. Last year, Netanyahu was rushed to the hospital for what doctors said likely was dehydration . He stayed overnight, prompting his weekly Cabinet meeting to be delayed. Earlier this year, Netanyahu underwent hernia surgery , during which he was under full anesthesia and unconscious. Levin served as acting prime minister during the operation. Recovery can be quick According to Netanyahu’s office, the Israeli leader was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection on Wednesday stemming from a benign enlargement of his prostate. The infection was treated successfully with antibiotics, but Sunday's procedure will remove his prostate. Complications from prostate enlargement are common in men in their 70s and 80s, Dr. Shay Golan, head of the oncology urology service at Israel’s Rabin Medical Center, told Israeli Army Radio. Golan spoke in general terms and was not involved in Netanyahu’s care or treatment. He said an enlarged prostate can block proper emptying of the bladder, leading to a build-up of urine that can lead to an infection or other complications. After medicinal treatment, doctors can recommend a procedure to remove the prostate to prevent future blockages, Golan said. In Netanyahu’s case, because the prostate is not cancerous, Golan said doctors will likely perform an endoscopic surgery, carried out by inserting small instruments into a body cavity, rather than making surgical cuts in the abdomen to reach the prostate. The procedure lasts about an hour, Golan said, and recovery is quick. He said that aside from catheter use for one to three days after the procedure, patients can return to normal activity without significant limitations.Double win for UBT in Mahim: Mahesh Sawant defends Sena fortress, becomes first to defeat a Thackeray-Raj's sonTitans upset Texans in back-and-forth battle of AFC South foes: Key takeawaysmnl777 free 100

(BPT) - Every year, roughly 20-30% of older Americans head to warmer climates for the colder winter months. Snowbirds are often retirees on fixed incomes, though flexible work environments now provide more opportunities for anyone to spend several months escaping the chill. Whether on a fixed income or an empty nester with disposable income, consumers are interested in saving money where they can. With this in mind, snowbirds can look to their AARP membership to take advantage of relevant discounts and offerings as they fluff their feathers and get ready for takeoff. From savory breakfast options while driving to your seasonal destination, to home and auto protection, and even resources to support mental and physical health, AARP member benefits offer deals and savings that will help snowbirds take flight this winter. "Spending winters in warmer places has so many benefits that come with being able to be outside more often. Warmth and sunlight not only increase serotonin levels , which can result in more positive moods and a calm, focused mental outlook, but they also stimulate vitamin D production and may even boost immunity ," said Elvira Christiansen, Director of Retail and Loyalty for AARP Services. "An AARP membership makes it even better by offering savings as you plan your trip, as well as at many dining, entertainment and retail locations you will come across in your winter getaway destination, helping you to enjoy it to the fullest." 1. Order Up Road trips are often the preferred way to travel to a winter home for the flexibility of having a car once there. Whether your drive will have you behind the wheel for hours or days, you'll want to make sure you have your meals planned out. Officers used the city's muscular surveillance system. Investigators analyzed DNA samples, fingerprints and internet addresses. Police went door-to-door looking for witnesses. When an arrest came five days later, those sprawling investigative efforts shared credit with an alert civilian's instincts. A Pennsylvania McDonald's customer noticed another patron who resembled the man in the oblique security-camera photos that New York police had publicized. Deputy Commissioner of Operations Kaz Daughtry speaks during a press conference regarding the arrest of suspect Luigi Mangione, Monday, Dec. 9, 2024, in Hollidaysburg, Pa., in the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. (AP Photo/Ted Shaffrey) Luigi Nicholas Mangione, a 26-year-old Ivy League graduate from a prominent Maryland real estate family, was arrested Monday in the killing of Brian Thompson, who headed one of the United States’ largest medical insurance companies. He remained jailed in Pennsylvania, where he was initially charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm, forgery and providing false identification to police. By late evening, prosecutors in Manhattan had added a charge of murder, according to an online court docket. He's expected to be extradited to New York eventually. It’s unclear whether Mangione has an attorney who can comment on the allegations. Asked at Monday's arraignment whether he needed a public defender, Mangione asked whether he could “answer that at a future date.” Mangione was arrested in Altoona, Pennsylvania, after the McDonald's customer recognized him and notified an employee, authorities said. Police in Altoona, about 233 miles (375 kilometers) west of New York City, were soon summoned. This booking photo released Monday, Dec. 9, 2024, by the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections shows Luigi Mangione, a suspect in the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. (Pennsylvania Department of Corrections via AP) They arrived to find Mangione sitting at a table in the back of the restaurant, wearing a blue medical mask and looking at a laptop, according to a Pennsylvania police criminal complaint. He initially gave them a fake ID, but when an officer asked Mangione whether he’d been to New York recently, he “became quiet and started to shake,” the complaint says. When he pulled his mask down at officers' request, “we knew that was our guy,” rookie Officer Tyler Frye said at a news conference in Hollidaysburg. New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said at a Manhattan news conference that Mangione was carrying a gun like the one used to kill Thompson and the same fake ID the shooter had used to check into a New York hostel, along with a passport and other fraudulent IDs. NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said Mangione also had a three-page, handwritten document that shows “some ill will toward corporate America." (AP Photo/Yuki Iwamura) A law enforcement official who wasn’t authorized to discuss the investigation publicly and spoke with The Associated Press on condition of anonymity said the document included a line in which Mangione claimed to have acted alone. “To the Feds, I’ll keep this short, because I do respect what you do for our country. To save you a lengthy investigation, I state plainly that I wasn’t working with anyone,” the document said, according to the official. It also had a line that said, “I do apologize for any strife or traumas but it had to be done. Frankly, these parasites simply had it coming.” Pennsylvania prosecutor Peter Weeks said in court that Mangione was found with a passport and $10,000 in cash — $2,000 of it in foreign currency. Mangione disputed the amount. Thompson, 50, was killed last Wednesday as he walked alone to a midtown Manhattan hotel for an investor conference. Police quickly came to see the shooting as a targeted attack by a gunman who appeared to wait for Thompson, came up behind him and fired a 9 mm pistol. Investigators have said “delay,” “deny” and “depose” were written on ammunition found near Thompson’s body. The words mimic a phrase used to criticize the insurance industry. A poster issued by the Federal Bureau of Investigation shows a wanted unknown suspect. (FBI via AP) From surveillance video, New York investigators gathered that the shooter fled by bike into Central Park, emerged, then took a taxi to a northern Manhattan bus terminal. Once in Pennsylvania, he went from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh, “trying to stay low-profile” by avoiding cameras, Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens said. A grandson of a wealthy, self-made real estate developer and philanthropist, Mangione is a cousin of a current Maryland state legislator. Mangione was valedictorian at his elite Baltimore prep school, where his 2016 graduation speech lauded his classmates’ “incredible courage to explore the unknown and try new things.” He went on to earn undergraduate and graduate degrees in computer science in 2020 from the University of Pennsylvania, a spokesperson said. “Our family is shocked and devastated by Luigi’s arrest,” Mangione’s family said in a statement posted on social media late Monday by his cousin, Maryland lawmaker Nino Mangione. “We offer our prayers to the family of Brian Thompson and we ask people to pray for all involved.” An NYPD police officer and K-9 dog search around a lake in Central Park, Monday, Dec. 9, 2024, in New York. (AP Photo/Yuki Iwamura) Luigi Nicholas Mangione worked for a time for the car-buying website TrueCar and left in 2023, CEO Jantoon Reigersman said by email. From January to June 2022, Mangione lived at Surfbreak, a “co-living” space at the edge of Honolulu tourist mecca Waikiki. Like other residents of the shared penthouse catering to remote workers, Mangione underwent a background check, said Josiah Ryan, a spokesperson for owner and founder R.J. Martin. “Luigi was just widely considered to be a great guy. There were no complaints,” Ryan said. "There was no sign that might point to these alleged crimes they’re saying he committed.” At Surfbreak, Martin learned Mangione had severe back pain from childhood that interfered with many aspects of his life, from surfing to romance, Ryan said. “He went surfing with R.J. once but it didn’t work out because of his back," Ryan said, but noted that Mangione and Martin often went together to a rock-climbing gym. NYPD officers in diving suits search a lake in Central Park, Monday, Dec. 9, 2024, in New York. (AP Photo/Yuki Iwamura) Mangione left Surfbreak to get surgery on the mainland, Ryan said, then later returned to Honolulu and rented an apartment. Martin stopped hearing from Mangione six months to a year ago. Although the gunman obscured his face during the shooting, he left a trail of evidence in New York, including a backpack he ditched in Central Park, a cellphone found in a pedestrian plaza, a water bottle and a protein bar wrapper. In the days after the shooting, the NYPD collected hundreds of hours of surveillance video and released multiple clips and still images in hopes of enlisting the public’s eyes to help find a suspect. “This combination of old-school detective work and new-age technology is what led to this result today,” Tisch said at the New York news conference. ___ Scolforo reported from Altoona and Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania. An Israeli airstrike on a car in the Gaza Strip has killed five people, including employees of charity organization World Central Kitchen . The strike, which took place Saturday morning, occurred after Israel’s military said it targeted a World Central Kitchen worker who had been part Hamas’ attack on Oct. 7, 2023. “We are heartbroken to share that a vehicle carrying World Central Kitchen colleagues was hit by an Israeli airstrike in Gaza,” World Central Kitchen said in a statement on X , formerly Twitter. “At this time, we are working with incomplete information and are urgently seeking more details. World Central Kitchen had no knowledge that any individual in the vehicle had alleged ties to the October 7th Hamas attack.” The organization added, “World Central Kitchen is pausing operations in Gaza at this time. Our hearts are with our colleagues and their families in this unimaginable moment.” WCK did not confirm the names of those killed. Israeli Defense Forces shared their own statement on social media, noting, “Earlier today, the IDF struck a vehicle with a terrorist, Hazmi Kadih, who took part in invading Kibbutz Nir Oz during the October 7 massacre. Kadih was monitored by IDF intelligence for a while and was struck following credible information regarding his real-time location.” They said that Kadih worked for WCK and that the charity had been asked “to clarify the issue and order an urgent examination regarding the hiring of workers who took part in the October 7 massacre and terrorist attacks against the State of Israel.” World Central Kitchen previously paused its operations in Gaza earlier this year when seven of its aid workers were killed in an Israeli strike. The strikes targeted three vehicles marked with WCK logos. “All three vehicles were carrying civilians; they were marked as WCK vehicles; and their movements were in full compliance with Israeli authorities, who were aware of their itinerary, route, and humanitarian mission,” the group wrote in a statement at the time. “An independent investigation is the only way to determine the truth of what happened, ensure transparency and accountability for those responsible, and prevent future attacks on humanitarian aid workers.” Editor’s picks The 100 Best TV Episodes of All Time The 250 Greatest Guitarists of All Time In an interview with Reuters , WCK founder and chef José Andrés said that the WCK workers “were targeted deliberately, nonstop, until everybody was dead in this convoy.” He continued, “This was not just a bad-luck situation where ‘oops,’ we dropped the bomb in the wrong place... Even if we were not in coordination with the [Israel Defense Forces], no democratic country and no military can be targeting civilians and humanitarians.” Israeli subsequently fired two officers it charged with having misidentified the WCK convoy. IDF admitted in a statement that “the forces targeted the three WCK vehicles based on the misclassification of the event and misidentification of the vehicles as having Hamas operatives inside them, with the resulting strike leading to the deaths of seven innocent humanitarian aid workers.” They added, “The strikes on the three vehicles were carried out in serious violation of the commands and IDF Standard Operating Procedures.”KU_Neal 19 run (T.Allen kick), 5:18. The outcome of the 2024 Maharashtra assembly polls, however, raises some tough questions about the political future of Sharad Pawar and his faction of the NCP. Assembly Election Results Live Updates Maharashtra Election Results Jharkhand Election Results Bypoll Election Results The NCP-Sharadchandra Pawar (NCP-SP) contested in 87 seats and, as of Saturday late evening, has won or is leading in just 10 - a win percentage of just 11%. This was one of the worst performances ever for Pawar. In the runup to the Maharashtra assembly polls, Pawar had taken it on himself to defeat all the NCP rebels who had joined his nephew, Ajit Pawar . In the 87 seats where this NCPSP put up candidates, 43 were against those of the Ajit-led NCP. Sharad Pawar himself chose the candidates for each seat. Playing the caste card, he picked several Maratha candidates to take on the Ajit Pawar rebels to ride the Maratha caste anger. He chose his grandnephew, Yugendra Pawar, to take on Ajit Pawar. Pawar Sr had begun campaigning against all the rebels much before the assembly polls, yet in the end it did not matter much. Ajit Pawar won by a margin of more than a lakh votes. Also, most of Ajit Pawar's candidates won against those of the NCPSP, from Dilip Walse Patil to Dhananjay Munde. This results have led to many questions about how long Pawar would manage to remain relevant. "He is 83 years old. While he is still sharp, the fact is that the (BJP-led) Mahayuti is stable for the next five years and by 2029 he would be 89," a political analyst said on the condition of anonymity. "Ajit Pawar may have lost the battle (Lok Sabha), but he won the war as he has got almost 41 of his candidates elected. In next five years, Ajit would try to claim Sharad Pawar's legacy." The Social Democrats, founded in 2015, won six seats in the 2020 election with around 3% of first preference votes. The exit poll after Friday’s General Election put the party on 5.8%, which would give them the most support of the smaller groups in the Dail. Social Democrats Wicklow candidate Jennifer Whitmore said she was “feeling great” as she arrived at the count centre in Greystones on Saturday. “It’s been a really positive result so far. Obviously, a little bit to go yet, but it’s looking really good,” she said of tallies that put her on 14% support and in line for the third of four seats in the constituency. “I think even across the country it’s looking good for the Soc Dems. “I’m hearing really positive things from all the different count centres, so it looks like our six TDs will hopefully be returned, and then we could be in contention for a number of other seats as well, so it’s a really positive day for us.” Asked whether the party would be willing to enter government formation talks with Fine Gael and Fianna Fail, Ms Whitmore said: “There’s still a while to go. “We’re in contention for a number of seats, but we’ll wait until we get them delivered and then we’ll be thinking about talking to the others.” Asked if she was worried by how support for the Green Party looks to have dropped after being a junior government partner, Ms Whitmore said small parties “can often bear the brunt of being in government”. “I think that’s why we were really clear that we set out our five deal-breakers, because we wanted to be very upfront with the public to say ‘if we do go into government, here is what we will be able to achieve’. “We didn’t want to over-promise, and we didn’t want to give people the impression that we were going to do things that we weren’t going to be able to get. “So we were really clear and very transparent in saying, ‘these are the five things that we would achieve if we go in’, and hopefully that will stand to us in the negotiations.” She said that Ms Cairns, who became leader last March, would remain involved in the party over her maternity leave, with deputy leader Cian O’Callaghan stepping in. Mr O’Callaghan said on Saturday his party’s “red lines” were not intended to rule them out of being in government with Fianna Fail or Fine Gael. “This is about defining our negotiations and talks with the parties once the election counts are over,” he said. On a common platform for left-wing parties to negotiate from, Mr O’Callaghan said: “We certainly intend on talking to the Labour Party and other parties over the coming days and weeks, that’s our intention.” The Social Democrats were co-founded by Roisin Shortall and Catherine Murphy in July 2015 – along with then-independent TD Stephen Donnelly, who later joined Fianna Fail and became health minister. Asked about the difficulty facing Mr Donnelly to keep his seat in Wicklow, Ms Whitmore said it was always going to be “a dogfight” for the “highly contested” fourth and final seat in the constituency. “When I was going around on the doors, I was getting a lot of positive feedback from people. People weren’t really talking about other parties or mentioning other candidates. “So I think it wasn’t clear from that what was going to happen, but I think the fourth seat was always going to be the really messy one.”

South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae Yul says that South Korea will continue preparations for the 60th anniversary next year of the normalization of ties with Japan, after his country's parliament passed an impeachment motion against President Yoon Suk Yeol following his short-lived declaration of martial law. "We will steadily proceed with the preparations so that the anniversary will be remembered as an important milestone," Cho said regarding the anniversary on Dec 18 next year. South Korea will strive to maintain momentum in its trilateral cooperation with Japan and the United States, Cho said at the press conference held jointly with Finance Minister Choi Sang Mok. "Our government will maintain a steadfast ROK-U.S. alliance and friendly cooperation with Japan," he said, using the abbreviation for Republic of Korea, South Korea's official name.Fox News Entertainment Newsletter: Jussie Smollett conviction overturned, Ellen DeGeneres reportedly leaves US

Andrew Holness, says that during the next iteration of the New Social Housing Programme (NSHP) the Government will be focused on providing more cost-effective units that are easier to build. He said that the units will be “robust enough to withstand our weather and environmental conditions.” Dr. Holness, who was addressing the ceremony for the handing over of a two-bedroom unit to Shirley and Calvin Swaby in Fullerton Park, St. Ann on Thursday (Dec. 12), outlined plans to shorten the construction time of the units by using pre-built solutions that can be placed on a foundation. “They’ll still be strong, robust, but the prefabricated housing solutions, the technology is now far advanced for us to be able to deploy a one-bedroom or a two-bedroom solution quite easily,” he noted. “So, they are constructed in a factory, they are put on a trailer, and they are brought to the location. A small crane puts them in place, assembles them, and within a matter of a week or two, you have a house ready to occupy. That is the direction in which we will probably have to go because the time it takes for construction, in addition to the administrative time, procurement time, and the compliance time, does elongate the process,” he pointed out. Meanwhile, Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service, Hon. Zavia Mayne, who is also Member of Parliament for St. Ann South West, informed that Mrs. Swaby and her husband Calvin had lived in an abandoned teacher’s cottage in Alexandria in the parish before being served notice. Mrs. Swaby, whose husband is visually impaired, expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and Mr. Mayne for their part in providing them with safe shelter, noting that their lives have been transformed.

Mediatization and the 3MTT Programme

“W hat just happened? It was the economy, stupid!” CNN news anchor David Goldman declared when Donald Trump (Republican) won as president of the United States of America for 2025-2029 at the Nov. 5 national elections (CNN, Nov. 6). The American people want a change. Goldman said, “a signi fi cant number of voters blame President Joe Biden and Trump’s opponent, Vice-President Kamala Harris, for failing to make enough improvements to Americans’ financial situations over the past four years. Poll after poll suggested that Americans hold largely negative views about the US economy” (Ibid.). They jealously want a return to “the American dream” of prosperity and indulgence. “Americans are living in the moment, optimistic that Trump can ease the pain of high inflation over the past four years. Election polls consistently showed the economy and inflation were top of mind. In the last Forbes/HarrisX national poll released the Monday before Election Day, 36% of respondents said prices/inflation were their top concern, followed by immigration and the economy at 32% and 31%, respectively,” post-election news analyses said ( USA Today, Nov. 7). The Center for American Progress Action Fund (CapAction), an independent, nonpartisan (US) policy institute and advocacy organization, volunteered an analysis of Trump’s economic plan based on what he had focused on in his first term (2017-2021) as president. “The most significant piece of legislation former President Donald Trump signed during his first term had a dramatic cut in the corporate tax rate from 35% to 21% as its centerpiece. (This was supposed to create more jobs, bring down prices, stimulate the economy.) That corporate tax cut did not trickle down to ordinary workers but cost $1.3 trillion and helped fuel a record $1 trillion in stock buybacks the year after it passed ( americanprogressaction.org , June 12). “We know that ‘privately, Trump has told allies that he is keenly interested in cutting corporate tax rates again,’ according to The Washington Post , even as corporate profits hit near record highs in 2023... The Post also reported that Trump’s advisers... have discussed proposals to make deeper cuts to the overall corporate tax rate, potentially to as low as 15%. As antitax advocate Grover Norquist told The Post, ‘I would be very surprised’ if he abandoned the push for lower corporate taxes... ‘All the people advising him before for sure think the 15% is where we need to go’.” (Ibid.). Why the contretemps of Trump taking over the reins of the world’s leading economy, at this time of struggling out of the global recession caused by the four-year COVID pandemic and the disruption of world peace. The world economy will be affected by the US economy. Noam Chomsky, American professor emeritus (MIT) and a “public intellectual” known for his work in linguistics, political activism and social criticism, wrote a book, Requiem for the American Dream: The 10 Principles of Concentration of Wealth & Power (2017) in which he asks “why America seemed to reach the zenith of its economic and civic vibrancy in the 1950s and ’60s and then go into a decline that has left few except the top tenth of a percent of Americans truly fulfilled or satisfied.” Reviewer Godfrey Cheshire subtly connects Chomsky’s thesis of the change in American culture and thought to the socio-politics of Trump’s first term as President (coinciding with the launch of Chomsky’s book and the partner-documentary in 2017). “Chomsky aptly calls the process (the change) he describes a ‘vicious cycle’ — the more money that goes into politics with the intent of influencing it, the more our politics is ruled by money rather than any other definition of national welfare.” Is it suggested that Trump, being unchangeably a businessman, aka, a capitalist, will be guided by his affinity with the wealthy (as he was reportedly supported in the elections by “big business”) in guiding the economics of his country? Note that bringing down the US corporate income tax rate from the present 21% to 15% (the centerpiece of Trump’s economic plan) will give the largest 100 US companies (the Fortune 100) a total estimated annual tax cut of $48 billion. These corporations collectively reported $1.1 trillion in profits in their last annual reports ( americanprogressaction.org , op cit.). Cutting the corporate tax rate to 15% would cost roughly $1 trillion over 10 years based on Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) and US Treasury estimates. Yet the shortfall in government revenues will be suffered by the people, as the tax cuts (from 35% to 21%) in Trump’s first term did not trickle down to boost productivity, employment, and lower-level household income. The (US) Center on Budget and Policy Priorities judged that “the 2017 Trump Tax Law was skewed to the rich, expensive, and failed to deliver on its promises.” Close to the elections, the Center warned that “A high-stakes tax policy debate will accelerate this year through 2025 over the pending expiration of the individual income and estate tax provisions of the 2017 Trump tax law. Policymakers should use this opportunity to work toward a tax code that raises more revenues, is more progressive and equitable, and supports investments that make the economy work for everyone” ( cbpp.org , June 13). America is told by its own sages to “make haste slowly” and to weigh and vet its strategies for economic development. Priority is to watch and avert the social degradation and undemocratic exclusion of the less privileged from opportunities for a better quality of life. The rich already have all they need and all they want. Some less-developed countries like the Philippines might still subconsciously look up to America for how to think or act in national situations or issues — perhaps a vestige of the “relief” from 300 years of Spanish colonization. (No Filipino bashing here, for wanting to be “Westernized,” as the whole world is now actually still led by America.) Is it surprising that our socio-politics and economics are pretty much like those of the US? President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. signed on Nov. 11 a new tax law called CREATE MORE, or the Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises to Maximize Opportunities for Reinvigorating the Economy Act. It will amend Republic Act 11534 or the original CREATE Act that was crafted to help enterprises recover from the impact of the pandemic by lowering the corporate income tax rates and making the country more appealing to businesses by rationalizing fiscal incentives ( manilatimes.net , Nov. 11). Its centerpiece policy is the reduction of the corporate income tax to 20% from the current 25%. There will be additional tax deductions and absolutely no taxes for specific registered business enterprises and incentives for foreign direct investors. Its implementing rules and regulations (IRR) will be released soon. Economist JC Punongbayan comments that official projections from Malacañang say the CREATE MORE will admittedly lower tax revenues by P5.9 billion. (Understated?) “That’s not a terribly large amount. In fact, such forgone revenues would be just 2% of the government’s revenues in September 2024. But still, it represents an erosion of much-needed revenues, at this time when the budget deficit and public debt remain too high compared to our nation’s income. If you check the latest debt statistics, you’ll see that the debt-to-GDP ratio has inched up to 61.3% in September 2024. That’s higher than the 2023 level of 60.1%.” ( Rappler , Nov. 15) Deloitte analyst Senen Quizon points out that CREATE MORE allows the president to grant incentives without the recommendation of the Fiscal Incentives Review Board (FIRB), the government body with the authority to grant tax incentives to Registered Business Enterprises (RBEs). At present, the President has residual power to grant incentive packages based on the FIRB’s criteria and recommendations ( deloitte.com/ph , Nov. 4). Oops! Hope the RBE/ Foreign Direct Investors will not have to worry about the “unexpected costs” of doing business in the Philippines. Amelia H. C. Ylagan is a doctor of Business Administration from the University of the Philippines. ahcylagan@yahoo.com

HealthEquity Earnings Analysis: Q3 RecapIt’s been a week since a woman died in a New York City subway car, allegedly set on fire by a homeless, undocumented man. She has yet to be identified and the man charged with her murder says he doesn’t even remember being there. The crime has renewed focus on a set of multilayered and inextricable issues felt almost daily in America’s biggest city: homelessness, crime and the nation’s broken immigration system. The killing’s gruesome details and videos from the scene spread quickly on social media, leaving lawmakers in New York to highlight the city’s failure to provide housing, address the ongoing mental health crisis and improve public safety. Riding the F train for shelter Both suspect and victim rode the F train to the end of the line in Brooklyn last Sunday, a frequent practice by homeless people seeking to take shelter from the cold at night. Once the train arrived at the station, authorities said the suspect, Sebastian Zapeta-Calil, walked over to the victim and using a lighter to set her ablaze. As the woman burned alive, Zapeta-Calil appeared to watch from a platform bench while bystanders recorded video and police struggled to put out the flames. Zapeta-Calil, who arrived in the United States from Guatemala in 2018, had also recently checked in and out of homeless shelters across the city. Zapeta-Calil’s last recorded residence, according to police, was a shelter in Brooklyn which offers help to people with substance abuse disorders. Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez announced a grand jury indictment against Zapeta-Calil on Friday, charging him with first- and second-degree murder and arson. Gonzalez said investigators in his office, the New York City Police Department and the city’s medical examiner’s office are still working to identify the victim. “Just because someone appears to have been living in a situation of homelessness does not mean that there is not going to be family devastated by the tragic way she lost her life,” Gonzalez said. Brooklyn Councilman Justin Brannan, a Democrat who represents parts of Coney Island, said homeless people routinely ride the subways to the end of the line stations to seek shelter from the elements and during the overnight hours. They are usually met by outreach workers who try to coax them into accepting city services and shelter, but the offers are often rejected. Brannan, whose district includes two end-of-line stations, said the constant presence of homeless individuals and their frequent refusal of city services is evidence the city’s approach to the homelessness crisis is not working. “The fact that so many people seek refuge in our subway system is a testament to how bad the shelter situation is,” Brannan told CNN. “Someone would rather spend the day riding the subways back and forth instead of accepting shelter – that is an indictment on the entire system.” Crime beneath the streets Crime rates in the city’s subway system have decreased by 10% since New York Gov. Kathy Hochul rolled out a subway safety initiative in March, according to data provided by Hochul’s office. The plan included additional resources for mental health services, a plan to install surveillance cameras across the entire train system and the deployment of National Guard officers. Overall, crime has declined by 42% since January 2021. Still, multiple high-profile incidents involving homeless individuals and other passengers – including some which have resulted in fatalities – have continued to feed anxiety among city residents and commuters about the safety of the system . “Our subways have become this de facto mental health facility,” Brannan said. The subway might look different for people depending on what hour they ride the trains, which run 24 hours, nonstop every day of the year. “The reality on the subways is very different from the rush hour commute and the off hours. Someone who commutes after 11 p.m. or before 5 or 6 a.m. is seeing a very different reality while they’re on that train,” he said. The struggle to house migrants More than 225,000 migrants have come through New York City since the spring of 2022, according to numbers provided by City Hall. Since then, Mayor Eric Adams’ administration has spent more than $6 billion to meet the city’s housing obligation, struggling to provide shelter to every migrant who arrived in the city. As a right-to-shelter jurisdiction, New York City is legally mandated to provide shelter to any homeless person in the city who needs it. The legal requirement has forced the city to look beyond its typical shelter options – resorting to hotels, park fields and a web of shelter providers. Zapeta-Calil had recently bounced around the city’s shelter system, according to senior law enforcement officials briefed on the investigation. The multiple shelter stays likely reflect the city’s 60-day rule for single migrant men. The policy allows men to stay in a shelter for a maximum of 60 days before needing to reapply or leave the shelter system altogether. ‘They are being used’ While much of the focus has been on Zapeta-Calil’s immigration status and the graphic nature of the crime, homelessness advocates said the case also highlights the struggle by state and local government to provide housing and services to people in dire need of them. Dave Giffen, executive director for the Coalition for the Homeless, the country’s oldest homeless advocacy and service organization, told CNN the attack underscores how deeply entrenched the issue is in the city. “What is frustrating about all this is that when these horrible incidents happen and homeless people are victimized or in the rare instance that they are the perpetrator, they are used for political purposes rather than doing something to provide permanent housing and services,” Giffen said. Further proof of the acute nature of the nation’s homelessness crisis was outlined in a Department of Housing and Urban Development report released Friday , showing the number of people experiencing homelessness on a single night in 2024 as the highest ever recorded. The data show more than 770,000 people experienced homelessness on a single night across the country in 2024. The number represents an increase of 18% over the last year and the largest annual increase since the count began in 2007. Roughly 23 of every 10,000 people in the United States “experienced homelessness in an emergency shelter, safe haven, transitional housing program, or in unsheltered locations across the country,” the report said. Homelessness increased significantly across many of America’s biggest cities, driven by the affordable housing crisis, rising inflation and increased numbers of immigrants to the United States. Natural disasters also contributed, as well as the end of pandemic era homelessness prevention programs. According to the New York City Department of Homeless Services’ daily census, more than 86,000 people in New York City were housed in the shelter system as of Friday, including more than 32,000 children. A face in the crowd The nature of the injuries suffered by the still unidentified victim has made the identification process extremely difficult, but investigators with the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office are working to trace the steps the woman took that day before she ended up sleeping inside the train. Gonzalez said they are also using advanced DNA and fingerprinting technology. “We’re working on trying to go back and trace when she entered the subway system and exactly – if there’s a clear shot of her face,” Gonzalez said Friday. Giffen told CNN the difficulty in identifying the victim so far underscores how homeless people become invisible to everyone around them. He said homeless people typically have a hard time holding on to important documents and identification because they are always moving from place to place and their belongings are often stolen. “Especially around the holiday season it just underscores what a tragedy this is – we have become so used to seeing human beings sleeping in public spaces that it’s not surprising we have forgotten who they are,” Giffen said. “The level of dehumanization is tragic and it’s something that likely happened long before this tragic act of violence.”

Croatia's outspoken President Zoran Milanovic won Sunday's election in the first round as he scooped up more than 50 percent of the vote, according to an exit poll. Milanovic, backed by the opposition left-wing Social Democrats, won 51.48 percent of the vote while Dragan Primorac, the candidate of the ruling conservative HDZ party, came second with 19.29 percent, showed the exit poll released by the state-run HRT television immediately after polling stations closed. The election comes as the European Union and NATO member country of 3.8 million people struggles with biting inflation, widespread corruption and a labour shortage. Although Milanovic was considered the strong favourite, surveys suggested that none of the candidates would garner more than 50 percent of the vote needed to win outright and avoid a runoff in two weeks. If the official results, due later on Sunday, confirm Milanovic's win in the first round, it would mark a serious blow to Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic's HDZ. Among the eight contenders, two women MPs -- centre-right MP Marija Selak Raspudic and green-left Ivana Kekin -- followed the two main rivals, the exit poll showed. They won around eight percent of the vote each. Croatia's president commands the country's armed forces and has a say in foreign policy. But despite limited powers, many believe the office is key for the political balance of power in a country mainly governed by the HDZ since independence in 1991. "All the eggs should not be in one basket," Nenad Horvat, a salesman in his 40s, told AFP. He sees Milanovic, a former leftist prime minister, as the "last barrier that all levers of power fall into the hands of HDZ", echoing the view of many. The 58-year-old Milanovic has been one of Croatia's leading and most colourful political figures for nearly two decades. Sharp and eloquent, he won the presidency for the Social Democrats (SDP) in 2020 with pledges to advocate tolerance and liberalism. But he used the office to attack political opponents and EU officials, often with offensive and populist rhetoric. Milanovic, who condemned Russia's aggression against Ukraine, has nonetheless criticised the West's military aid to Kyiv. That prompted the prime minister to label him a pro-Russian who is "destroying Croatia's credibility in NATO and the EU". Milanovic countered that he wanted to protect Croatia from being "dragged into war". "As long as I'm president no Croatian soldier will wage somebody else's wars," he said this month. Jure Tomicic, a 35-year-old IT expert from Zagreb, worries about the ongoing conflicts. "As the head of state we need a leader who will understand the situation more seriously, and not make jokes," he told AFP after voting. Milanovic regularly pans Plenkovic and his HDZ party over systemic corruption, calling the premier a "serious threat to Croatia's democracy". "I'm a guarantee of the control of the octopus of corruption... headed by Andrej Plenkovic," he said during the campaign. For many, the election is a continuation of the longstanding feud between two powerful politicians. "This is still about the conflict between the prime minister and president," political analyst Zarko Puhovski told AFP. "All the rest are just incidental topics." Primorac, a 59-year-old physician and scientist returning to politics after 15 years, campaigned as a "unifier" promoting family values and patriotism. "Croatia needs unity, global positioning and a peaceful life," he told reporters after casting his ballot in Zagreb, adding that he would later attend a mass. Primorac repeatedly accused Milanovic of "disgracing Croatia", a claim that resonated with his supporters. By 1530 GMT, turnout was 36 percent, the electoral commission said, down from nearly 39 percent at the same time during the 2019 presidential election. ljv/yad

Often a secondary thought, special teams were the immediate deciding factor in Sunday's matchup between the Washington Commanders and Dallas Cowboys. Despite their own abundance of miscues in that area, the Cowboys held on for a 34-26 victory that ranks as an all-time bizarre outcome in this historic rivalry. Dallas' special-teams bungles in the first half consisted of a blocked field goal, a missed field goal and a blocked punt. But the Commanders could not separate from the other, taking a 3-3 tie into halftime. Brandon Aubrey's struggles would carry over to the start of the second half, booting the opening kickoff short of the landing zone to set the Commanders up at their own 40. From there, the home team kept the ball on the ground and ended their drive with a 17-yard Jayden Daniels running touchdown. However, the Cowboys - who sat enough starters in this game to strongly suggest they understand the benefits of tanking (which won't be gained here) would have an answer. Cooper Rush, the backup QB playing in place of injured Dak Prescott, had his sharpest drive to that point of the afternoon, finding Jalen Tolbert for 16 yards before hitting Brevyn Spann-Ford for 18 more. A pass interference call would move the Cowboys to the Washington three-yard line, setting up another Rush pass to Tolbert. The proceeding extra point put Dallas up 10-9 at 4:40 in the third quarter. Following the score, the Cowboys' defense came away with another big stop to force a punt. Unable to capitalize, the Cowboys punted the ball back to Washington. However, Dallas took over the game in the fourth. Rush moved the offense to the Washington 30 before they settled for another Aubrey field goal to extend the lead to 13-9. On the following Commanders drive, Donovan Wilson ripped the ball from Jessie Bates' grasp, giving the ball back to the Cowboys at the 44 yard line. Dallas then moved the ball to just outside the red zone at the 22. Rush floated a pass to Luke Schoonmaker, extending the lead to a 20-9 margin. But the Commanders quickly came to life. Daniels moved the offense 69 yards in just over two minutes, finding Zach Erts four yards out for a touchdown. The quarterback would scamper into the end zone on the next snap, earning two more points to make the score 20-17. Despite all the Cowboys' special-teams miscues, the biggest play of the game on the following kick off. KaVontae Turpin watched the ball bounce through his legs before securing a handle, spinning around an initial tackle and hitting the open field. No one would catch the Cowboys' speedy returner as he dashed 99 yards for a touchdown, pushing the Dallas lead back to double digits at 27-17. Related: Inside The Cowboys' 'Blow It Up' Plan to $100M in 2025 Cap Room Washington would drive back into Dallas territory, but settled for an immediate field goal to claw within a 27-20 deficit. The Cowboys would secure the onside kick that followed. However, Washington created a miracle with Daniels finding Terry McLaurin who separated from the defense for an 86-yard score with 21 seconds left. But Austin Seibert missed the extra point, keeping Dallas up 27-26. On the next onside kick, Juanyeh Thomas spurted up the middle to return the kick for a touchdown, making the score 34-26. Washington's Hail Mary attempt was intercepted by Israel Mukuamu, moving Dallas to 4-7 and the Commanders to 7-5 and ending one of the wildest games ever. Let's face it, nothing important happens in December. I'm scheduling 24 advent calendar posts this week and then spending the rest of the year eating boxes of Cadbury Mini Yule Logs Triple Chocolate. So it's no surprise that Devolver have announced their remaining slate of games aiming for release in 2024 are actually coming out in 2025. The games that slipped are Baby Steps , Skate Story , and Stick It To The Stickman. Devolver released the news with typical style, via the 15th annual Devolver Delayed awards, which you can watch below. I enjoyed the in memoriam section for games that released this year which can therefore no longer be delayed, all of which are currently available at a discount via Devolver's autumn sale on Steam . Baby Steps is the pick of the Delayed Three that I'm most looking forward to. It's a literal walking simulator from Bennett Foddy and the makers of Ape Out in which you pilot limbs individually to steer your pyjama-clad protagonist up a mountain, like a marriage between QWOP , Getting Over It , and whichever third-person game with a mountain you care to choose from. Skyrim? Jusant? I bet God Of War's got a mud-soaked hill in it somewhere. Skate Story is Tony Hawk's Pro Skater if Tony Hawk was a demon made out of glass. Stick It To The Stickman is that Flash animation you watched 20 years ago but with a physics simulation and made by the Broforce developers. I want to play both of these games, too. Check out the graphic design on these bad boys. As key players Supachok Sarachart and Benjamin Davis returned to training on Tuesday, Thailand suffered a major blow when influential midfielder Ekanit Panya was ruled out for the rest of the AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2024. A report emerging from the Thai national team camp said that attacking midfielder Ekanit, who was injured during a training session for the Asean championship recently, is likely to miss playing for the rest of the tournament. The 25-year-old Ekanit did not play for the War Elephant during the group stage matches because of the injury sustained while training. He did not train with the team as the report said his injury would take weeks to heal, indicating that the midfielder is expected to miss the entire event. Defending champions Thailand are training for the first leg of their Asean championship semi-final against the Philippines away at Manila's Rizal Memorial Stadium on Friday night. Supachok and Benjamin, the two forwards who had also been nursing injuries, resumed full training on Tuesday. However, there was no confirmation from the Thai national team management if the duo will be available for selection for the game in Manila. The game will be played on an artificial grass pitch. Thailand left wing back Thitathon Aksornsri said he aims to help the team win the first leg of the semi-final against the Philippines. The 27-year-old Thitathon said: "Right now, we are ready for the semi-final. We are fully rested and are back to training now. "I think an artificial pitch is quite different from a pitch with real grass and such artificial surfaces aren't used anymore these days. "We have to adjust in training, especially in passing the ball and almost every other thing, which may affect the team's performance. "I believe that everyone will be able to adjust because we have to play on the surface." Earlier, another Thailand midfielder, Worachit Kanitsribumphen, had said he believed the War Elephants would not have any problems taking on the Philippines on artificial grass surface. The match will kick off at 8pm (Thai time) on Friday and will be televised live by Thai Rath TV (32), AIS Play, True Sport 2 (667) and the BG Sports Channel on YouTube. Thailand topped the Group A standings after four straight victories over Timor Leste, Malaysia, Singapore and Cambodia. The Thais had recovered from two goals down to beat Singapore 4-2 in the away game. The Philippines reached the last four stage of the regional championship after finishing runners-up in Group B.NoneSeibert misses an extra point late as the Commanders lose their 3rd in a row, 34-26 to the Cowboys

Now with the weather changing outside, they’re winning with old school football, too. Jahmyr Gibbs rushed for two scores , David Montgomery added a third TD run and Detroit's increasingly stingy defense kept the Indianapolis Colts out of the end zone on Sunday, leading the Lions to their ninth straight win, 24-6. “This is, whatever it is, 10 quarters without allowing a touchdown and the three last games in the second half we're not allowing it,” coach Dan Campbell said. “We talk about it all the time — limiting points, play physical style, shut down the run — we were able to do that.” They've been doing it all season in their greatest run in decades, but have been more effective lately and it has shown. The Lions improved to 10-1 for the first time since 1934, their inaugural season in the Motor City. They own the league's longest active winning streak and are 6-0 on the road this season. While the Lions have scored points by the dozens all season, Campbell's preference for physical football means they're equally capable of grinding out wins with the combination of a ball-control offense and an ascending defense that propelled them to this win. Gibbs finished with 21 carries for 90 yards on a day Goff went 26 of 36 with 269 yards and no touchdowns. And for the third straight week, all against AFC South foes, the Lions had a second-half shutout. “If you can win on the road, you're normally a pretty damn good team,” Campbell said. “And we can win on the road.” The Colts (5-7) found out the hard way by losing their second straight home game and for the fourth time in their past five games. Anthony Richardson had another up-and-down game , going 11 of 28 with 172 yards while rushing 10 times for 61 yards. But it was Indy's inability to finish drives with touchdowns that again cost the team. That flaw was evident right from the start when Richardson took the Colts inside the Lions 5-yard line on the game's first series and settled for a short field goal when they couldn't punch it in. “We've got to take advantage of our opportunities,” Colts coach Shane Steichen said. “This league comes down to inches, it comes down to yards and you've got to take advantage of those opportunities. We've had issues down in the red zone and you have to look at the tape and clean it up.” Detroit made Indy pay dearly for its offensive miscues. Gibbs' 1-yard TD run on the Lions' second series made it 7-3 early in the second quarter and after Indy settled for another short field goal, Montgomery spun his way across the goal line for a 6-yard TD and a 14-6 lead. Detroit's defense made sure that was all the scoring punch it needed. “Those players, we've been around each other long enough, they've been around each other to know exactly what we're looking for,” Campbell said. “We have an identity about us. We know the critical factors as they pertain to winning, and those guys take that stuff serious.” Gibbs' 5-yard TD run late in the third quarter gave Detroit a 21-6 lead and they closed it out with a 56-yard field goal midway through the fourth. Amon-Ra St. Brown caught six passes for 62 yards for Detroit while Michael Pittman Jr. had six catches for 96 yards for Indy despite leaving briefly in the first half with an injured shoulder. Gibbs' first score extended Detroit's league record to 25 consecutive games with a TD run, including the playoffs. He's also the third Lions player with 1,000 scrimmage yards and 10 TDs in each of his first two pro seasons with Detroit, joining Billy Sims and Barry Sanders. Gibbs and Montgomery have each scored at least one TD in the same game nine times. Lions: Things got ugly during a third-quarter flurry. Receiver-punt returner Kalif Raymond (foot), left tackle Taylor Decker (right leg) and Montgomery (shoulder) all left in quick succession. Raymond and Montgomery did not return. Decker did. CB Carlton Davis II left early in the fourth with what appeared to be a left knee injury. Colts: Indy deactivated left tackle Bernhard Raimann (knee), forcing the Colts to again use three rookie linemen. Receivers Ashton Dulin (ankle) and Josh Downs (shoulder) both left in the second half. Downs returned, Dulin did not. Lions: Host Chicago in its traditional Thanksgiving Day game. Colts: Visit New England next Sunday. AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/NFL

I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! viewers are predicting that one contestant has sealed their fate for the first elimination after showing their "true colours". The 2024 series of the ITV reality show has been running for a week, with the latest group of celebrities swapping their luxurious lifestyles for basic jungle living. Tensions rose for the first time during Saturday night's episode (November 23), which saw late arrivals Maura Higgins and Richard Coles join the main camp. The mood soured when Dean McCullough and Alan Halsall clashed. After feasting on a large portion of junk food won by Maura and Richard through a secret task and a stomach-churning eating challenge, a sleepy Dean decided to take a nap. This coincided with chores needing to be done; Jane Moore went to collect firewood and reluctantly admitted due to camp rules: "I can't do it on my own". Alan noticed Jane leaving alone and sprang into action, choosing to wake Dean from his sleep to help. As Dean, groggy and confused from being woken up, barely reacted to Alan's question, "You don't fancy it? No? ", the Coronation Street actor joined Jane, ensuring she wasn't left to fend for herself, reports the Express . Following the incident, but clearly still feeling the effects, Dean walked over to Alan and Jane, specifically telling Alan, "You can go back now." Alan tried to justify his actions by stating: "I was trying to wake you up as soft as I could." This led Dean to sharply respond: "Listen to me. If you're gonna wake me up, you need to give me a minute, alright? It takes a couple of minutes for my contact lenses to get back working again, alright, so you don't need to turn around to me and say 'do you not fancy it? ' ok? And then turn around and walk away." Alan, attempting to explain further, said, "I've listened to you, Jane was halfway down here, that's why I went...", which Dean interrupted with, "Ok I get that but you need to give me a minute mate." The dispute continued to unfold. Dean later vented to the Bush Telegraph: "I opened my eyes and wee Tyrone from Coronation Street is like: 'Come on, mate, you need to go down to the bottom of the creek'." He elaborated on the disagreement by adding: "He didn't even give me a chance to say yes or no because he went: 'You don't fancy it? No? ' and ran. He was being a real camp leader. I was like: 'Whoa, whoa, whoa don't dig me out like that.' And I had to say to him: 'If you're going to say: 'Don't fancy it? ' - give me a chance'. Because, of course, I fancy it. I want to help Jane. I went straight down and helped her." Later, Dean was seen offering Jane an apology before helping to bring firewood back to the camp. Alan reflected privately in his Bush Telegraph, saying, "It was a flippant comment, I'm sorry if you took it in the wrong way. Wasn't actually meant like that, it was just a bit of a joke. If I was asleep and you woke me up, I won't fancy it either." Despite the reconciliation, viewers are already speculating that Dean will be the first to leave following his clash with fellow camper Alan. Social media was ablaze with commentary from fans, one of whom posted: "Dean's just earned himself the first elimination I think #ImACeleb." Another viewer echoed the sentiment, tweeting: "So that's Dean being voted out first #ImACeleb #imacelebrity @imacelebrity." Some spectators believe Dean might choose to exit the show, as one Twitter user expressed: "Hopefully Dean McCullough will walk out, he's insufferable. #ImACeleb." The sentiment continued, with another adding: "Honestly isn't it time for Dean to walk yet? He's made himself look horrible this episode #ImACeleb," and someone asserting: "Mark my words Dean will be the first to walk."H&M REOPENS ICONIC TIMES SQUARE FLAGSHIP IN NEW YORK CITY AS NEW BRAND SHOWCASE

Luigi Mangione’s college hobby was 3D printing, making ‘much more innocent things,’ former pal revealsMy apartment is not that big: You'd think I'd remember where I placed my keys or wallet when I come home. But I never do. My super power is misplacing small, important things. Thanks to Bluetooth trackers, however, I don't really lose anything anymore. Or if lose track of something, I can easily find it. The One Point ($28) , which Chipolo released earlier this year, is a Bluetooth tracker that uses Google's relatively new crowdsourced Find My Device network of over 1 billion Android devices to help you easily find your tagged keys, wallet, luggage, backpack, car and other items you might lose track of. You can get a three-tracker bundle for 15% off the price of buying two key fobs and one card separately or a four pack of One Point trackers for 20% off , or $60 for Black Friday . Taking advantage of Google's tracking network means besides using your own phone to locate the One Point -- with the Find My Device app -- you can tap into all the other Android devices around you, from friends and strangers alike (completely privately), to better track your item, no matter where it is or how far from the item you are. For more, here's why you shouldn't put an AirTag on a pet and five unexpected placed to use a tracker . How does the Chipolo One Point tracker work? The tiny plastic tracker, which weighs relatively nothing, is about an inch and a half in diameter, roughly the size of those old Eisenhower dollar coins (I'm showing my age). Unlike the Apple AirTag, the One Point also has a built-in key ring hole, so you don't need to buy an accessory to clip the tracker to your item -- all you need is a key ring. This is the Chipolo One Point tracker on my keychain. Once your One Point is connected to your phone, you can check the location of your tracked item with Google's Find My Device app. You can easily see where the tracker is on a map, and your distance from it. If you can't find the tracker with your eyes, you can always force it to make a pretty loud sound (120db), so that you can easily hear where it is, even if it's under a pile of clothing. The battery life is about a year, but you can easily open the tracker (there's a tiny hole on the side) to replace the CR2032 battery. You can buy a 10-pack of CR2032 batteries for under $6 , and apparently that should last you a decade. And if you're placing your tracker on something shared, like a large piece of check-in luggage for you and your family, you can share the information with a loved one so that you can both keep an eye on the tracker from separate Android devices. Hey, did you know? CNET Deals texts are free, easy and save you money . Why should you get the Chipolo One Point over the AirTag? There's really only one reason why you should get the Chipolo One Point tracker, and that's if you own an Android device . The Chipolo One Point is made specifically for Android phones and tablets and works with Google's Find My Device app. If you own an Android, you definitely don't want an AirTag, mainly because there's no way to connect an AirTag to an Android device . If you've got both an Apple and Android device, there are also a few other reasons to choose the Chipolo One over an AirTag: If you're on Android, you can't use an AirTag anyway. How to setup your Chipolo One Point tracker Right out of the box, all you need to do is press in your Chipolo One Point (you'll hear a pretty loud sound come from the tiny device) and then place the tracker next to your phone. Your Android device will automatically detect the tracker, as long as you have the Find My Device app downloaded. The pop-up on your screen will walk you through all the instructions for setup, which includes linking the device to your email account, agreeing to be part of Google's Find My Device network and enabling recent locations for offline devices. If you don't have the Google Find My Device app, download it here . All in all, the setup takes under a minute. And then you can keep track of your item from the comfort of your phone. Just don't lose your phone. Why the Chipolo tracker would make a great gift I have enough soap, chocolate coins and socks to last many lifetimes. But I'd love to find the Chipolo tracker hanging over the fireplace this holiday season. And best of all, if I was up very late the night before, I should be able to find my stocking easily with the tracker inside. While you're here, check out AirTag vs. Tile and SmartTag and Apple and Google both have ways to find your lost devices, but here's the winner .Cathedral Home aims to launch Crisis Text Line for Wyoming

True freshman Luke Kromenhoek threw three touchdown passes and Caziah Holmes ran for two more as host Florida State routed Charleston Southern 41-7 on Saturday afternoon in Tallahassee, Fla. The Seminoles (2-9) convincingly snapped a six-game losing streak and ensured that the Buccaneers (1-11) would finish theirs on a 10-game skid. Florida State has not had much to celebrate during one of its worst seasons in program history. But on Saturday, the Seminoles overcame a rough start and put together one of their more complete efforts of the season. Florida State had not scored more than 21 points in a game prior to Saturday's contest and its 175 rushing yards more than doubled its average (80.5 per game) this season. No single runner had over 40 yards, but seven rushers combined for that output on 34 attempts. The Seminoles entered the game ranked 130th out of 133 FBS teams in rushing offense. Holmes, a senior, finished with three carries for 38 yards, including touchdown runs of 3 and 18 yards. Kromenhoek gave Florida State a sliver of hope for its quarterback future as he completed 13 of 20 passes for 209 yards and no interceptions. He threw TD passes for Amaree Williams, Ja'Khi Douglas and Hykeem Williams. The highlight was a 71-yard touchdown pass to Douglas on the first play from scrimmage of the second half to put the Seminoles ahead 24-0. Douglas finished with 82 yards receiving on three catches, and 10 different Florida State players caught passes for 240 total yards. The Seminoles went 6 of 10 on third downs after averaging only a 25 percent conversion rate all season. Their defense held Charleston Southern to 275 total yards (57 rushing) and forced two turnovers. Florida State was unable to hang on to the shutout, however, as Bucs quarterback Kaleb Jackson found Landon Sauers for a 7-yard touchdown pass with 57 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Jackson completed 22 of 32 passes for 218 yards, one touchdown and one interception. The Bucs defense recorded three sacks led by Davion Williams, who had eight tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and one sack. The Seminoles will conclude their season next Saturday at home against rival Florida. --Field Level Media3D Systems Announces Date of Third Quarter 2024 Financial Results

Matt Gaetz says he won't return to Congress next year after withdrawing name for attorney general WASHINGTON (AP) — Matt Gaetz is not coming back to Congress. The Florida Republican said Friday he has no intention of serving another term in the House now that he is no longer President-elect Donald Trump's nominee for attorney general. Gaetz withdrew as the nominee this week amid growing fallout from the allegations of sexual conduct against him. Gaetz denies the allegations. Gaetz didn't lay out his plans now that he's out of office, saying only, “I’m still going to be in the fight, but it’s going to be from a new perch." After Gaetz's withdrawal on Thursday, Trump named former Florida attorney general Pam Bondi to lead the Justice Department. Vance takes on a more visible transition role as he works to boost Trump's most controversial picks WASHINGTON (AP) — After several weeks working behind closed doors, Vice President-elect JD Vance returned to Capitol Hill this week in a new, more visible role. He's been helping Donald Trump’s most contentious Cabinet picks try to win confirmation in the Senate, where he has served for the last two years. Vance spent part of Wednesday at the Capitol with Rep. Matt Gaetz sitting in on meetings with Trump’s controversial choice for attorney general. On Thursday, Vance was back, this time accompanying Pete Hegseth. Vance is expected to accompany other nominees for meetings over the coming weeks as he tries to leverage the two years he has spent in the Senate to help push through Trump’s picks. Beyond evangelicals, Trump and his allies courted smaller faith groups, from the Amish to Chabad Donald Trump’s lock on the white evangelical vote is legendary, but he didn't focus exclusively on large religious voter blocs. He and his allies also wooed smaller religious groups, away from the mainstream. He posted a tribute to Coptic church members on social media and met with members of Assyrians for Trump — two smaller Christian communities with Middle Eastern roots. He visited the grave of the revered late leader of an Orthodox Jewish movement. His allies sought votes from the separatist Amish community. While Trump won decisively, the outreaches reflected aggressive campaigning in what was expected to be a tight race. NATO and Ukraine to hold emergency talks after Russia's attack with new hypersonic missile KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — NATO and Ukraine will hold emergency talks Tuesday after Russia attacked a central city with a hypersonic ballistic missile that escalated the nearly 33-month-old war. Ukraine's parliament canceled a session Friday over the security threat. In a stark warning to the West, President Vladimir Putin said in a nationally televised speech Thursday that the attack with the intermediate-range Oreshnik missile was retaliation for Kyiv’s use of U.S. and British longer-range missiles capable of striking deeper into Russian territory. Putin said Russia is launching production of the Oreshnik, saying it's so powerful that several of them fitted with conventional warheads could be as devastating as a strike with strategic — or nuclear — weapons. Texas education board approves optional Bible-infused curriculum for elementary schools AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas’ education board has voted to allow Bible-infused teachings in elementary schools. The approval Friday follows other Republican-led states that have pushed this year to give religion a larger presence in public classrooms. The curriculum adopted by the Texas State Board of Education is optional for schools to adopt, but they’ll receive additional funding if they do so. Parents and teachers who opposed the curriculum say the lessons will alienate students of other faith backgrounds. Supporters argue the Bible is a core feature of American history and that teaching it will enrich learning. 2 convicted in human smuggling case after Indian family froze to death on US-Canada border FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (AP) — A jury has convicted two men of charges related to human smuggling for their roles in an international operation that led to the deaths of a family of Indian migrants who froze while trying to cross the Canada-U.S. border during a 2022 blizzard. Harshkumar Ramanlal Patel and Steve Shand each faced four charges related to human smuggling before being convicted on Friday. Patel is an Indian national. Shand is an American from Florida. They were arrested after the family froze while trying to cross the desolate border during a 2022 blizzard. Northern California gets record rain and heavy snow. Many have been in the dark for days in Seattle FORESTVILLE, Calif. (AP) — A major storm with heavy snow and record rain that's moving through Northern California has toppled trees, closed roads and prompted evacuations in some areas after knocking out power to hundreds of thousands of people in Washington and Oregon. Forecasters warn that the risk of flash flooding and rockslides will continue through Friday. The National Weather Service has extended a flood watch for areas north of San Francisco as a plume of moisture known as an atmospheric river inundates Northern California and the Pacific Northwest. Up to 16 inches of rain is forecast in Northern California and southwestern Oregon. The storm system unleashed winds earlier this week that left two people dead and hundreds of thousands without power in Washington. Archaeologists discover 4,000-year-old canals used to fish by predecessors of ancient Maya WASHINGTON (AP) — Using drones and Google Earth imagery, archaeologists have discovered a 4,000-year-old network of earthen canals in what’s now Belize. The research published Friday in Science Advances shows that long before the ancient Maya built temples, their predecessors were already altering the landscape of Central America’s Yucatan peninsula. The ancient fish canals were used to channel and catch freshwater species such as catfish. These structures were used for around 1,000 years — including during the “formative” period when the Maya began to settle in permanent farming villages and a distinctive culture started to emerge. California case is the first confirmed bird flu infection in a US child Health officials are confirming bird flu in a California child — the first reported case in a U.S. minor. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced confirmatory test results on Friday. Officials say the child had mild symptoms, was treated with antiviral medication and is recovering. The child’s infection brings the reported number of U.S. bird flu cases this year to 55, including 29 in California. State officials have said the child lives in Alameda County, which includes Oakland, and attends day care, but released no other details. Giants release quarterback Daniel Jones just days after benching him EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The Daniel Jones era in New York is over. The Giants quarterback was granted his release by the team just days after the franchise said it was benching him in favor of third-stringer Tommy DeVito. New York president John Mara said Jones approached the team about releasing him and the club obliged. Mara added he was “disappointed” at the quick dissolution of a once-promising relationship between Jones and the team. Giants coach Brian Daboll benched Jones in favor of DeVito following a loss to the Panthers in Germany that dropped New York's record to 2-8.A Tennessee man is convicted of killing 2 at a high school basketball game in 2021Customer Experience Management: USD 10.67B in 2023, Forecast to USD 30.31B by 2031Video game ends ‘collaboration’ with Conor McGregormnl7777

Missed kicks. Poor tackling. Costly penalties. Week 12 was filled with sloppy play around the NFL, leading to some upsets and surprising outcomes. Jayden Daniels nearly led Washington to an improbable comeback down 10 in the final two minutes against Dallas only to fall short because Austin Seibert's extra point sailed wide left. After a field goal and successful onside kick, Daniels connected with Terry McLaurin on an 86-yard catch-and-run touchdown to bring the Commanders within one point with 21 seconds remaining. But Seibert's point-after attempt failed and the Cowboys returned the ensuing onside kick for a touchdown to seal a 34-26 victory. Special teams were atrocious for both teams. Seibert also missed his first extra point and Washington allowed KaVontae Turpin's 99-yard kickoff return for a score earlier in the fourth quarter. The Cowboys missed a field goal, had another blocked and had a punt blocked. "What a wild special teams moment of blocked punts, kicks, kickoff returns, blocked field goals, just a number of things going to that spot," Commanders coach Dan Quinn said. Washington (7-5) was a 10 1/2-point favorite over the undermanned Cowboys (4-7) but ended up losing a third straight game. The Houston Texans were 8-point favorites against the lowly Tennessee Titans and let the game come down to Ka'imi Fairbairn missing a 28-yard field goal that would have tied it with just under two minutes left. C.J. Stroud threw two interceptions, was sacked four times and the Texans (7-5) committed 11 penalties, including an illegal shift that negated a go-ahead 33-yard TD pass to Nico Collins on the drive that ended with Fairbairn's miss in the 32-27 loss. The Titans (3-8) averaged just 17 points per game before putting 32 on the scoreboard against Houston's defense that entered No. 4 in the league. "We didn't do anything well enough to win this game," Texans coach DeMeco Ryans said. "Out of all the positives that we did have, there were way too many negatives. Too many negative plays. Score, get a penalty, get touchdowns called back. Get penalties on special teams. Just way too many negative plays defensively, like unexplainable explosives for touchdowns. We just didn't play good across the board." The San Francisco 49ers didn't have quarterback Brock Purdy, star edge rusher Nick Bosa and All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams against Green Bay. That was no excuse for their undisciplined performance. The Niners committed nine penalties and their tackling was shoddy in a 38-10 loss to the Packers. The defending NFC champions are 5-6 with a trip to Buffalo (9-2) coming up. They're still only one game behind Seattle and Arizona in the NFC West. "I'm really not concerned right now about how many guys were missing. We didn't play good enough, so that's not a factor. But, when you are missing some guys, you do have to be better. When you have those penalties and we didn't stop the run like we did and we had those three turnovers in the second half, that's how you get embarrassed." Coming off their first loss of the season, the two-time defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs needed Patrick Mahomes' heroics on the final drive to beat Carolina 30-27. Mahomes ran 33 yards to set up Spencer Schrader's 31-yard field goal as time expired. Kansas City had 10 penalties, including a pass interference that gave the Panthers (3-8) another chance to make the 2-point conversion that tied the game with 1:46 remaining. On defense, the Chiefs (10-1) suddenly shaky unit gave up 334 total yards against Bryce Young and an offense that entered last in the NFL. "We've got to do better. We're doing good in the red zone but that's only a third of the field," Chiefs safety Bryan Cook said. "We will go back and look at the film to see what we're doing week to week, and see the tendencies that we're giving up, and just move forward from there. At the end of the day, we're all vets in the room for the most part. ... got to go back to the drawing board and see what we're doing and correct it from there." The Vikings allowed the Bears to recover an onside kick with 21 seconds left and Caleb Williams followed with a 27-yard pass to D.J. Moore to set up Cairo Santos' tying 48-yard field goal. But Minnesota won in overtime, 30-27. The Chiefs and Vikings overcame their mistakes in narrow victories. The Commanders, Texans and 49ers couldn't. They have to be better down the stretch to make a playoff run. Get local news delivered to your inbox!

Alcoa stock soars to 52-week high, hits $46.57 amid market rallyFirst downs and second guesses: Volleyball season in Nebraska isn’t over. In fact, it’s just beginning. On Monday the Omaha Supernovas announced their draft class, including Creighton All-America Kendra Wait and Nebraska’s Lindsay Krause. They join former Husker Ally Batenhorst, Briana Holman and Kayla Caffey on the roster of the defending Pro Volleyball Federation champions. A couple hours later, the Love Volleyball League announced the signing of its “LOVB 6,” a rookie class that includes Lexi Rodriguez (Omaha) Jess Mruzik (Houston), Sarah Franklin (Madison), Sophie Fischer (Salt Lake), One Ofoegbu (Atlanta), and Madisen Skinner (Austin). Rodriguez joins a LOVB Omaha roster that already is loaded with local star power in Jordan Larson, Justine-Wong-Orantes, Madi Kubik, Lauren Stivrins and Jaali Winters. Is this town big enough for two pro volleyball teams? We’ll find out in a few weeks. The Supernovas open their season on Jan. 10 at the CHI Health Center. Two weeks later, on Jan 24., Omaha LOVB (team name?) opens its inaugural season at Liberty Credit Union First Arena (Ralston), where it will play four matches and two more at Baxter Arena. The level of play in both leagues will be incredible. But are there enough fans to go around? The “Novas” averaged 9,656 fans last year in 12 matches at the CHI Health Center. They led the rest of the teams by a lot. Now add local heroes Wait, Krause and Batenhorst and attendance should improve. But what if fans also want to go see Larson, Rodriguez, Stivrins and Winters, along with familiar opponents like Franklin and Mruzik? How will it all play out? Apparently, LOVB’s pockets run deep. For old San Diego Chargers fans like myself and John Cook, an easy comparison is the National Football League and American Football League wars in the 1960’s. Which resulted in the creation of the Super Bowl and then a merger. This winter should be a blast. But I can already see a couple of questions that might need asking come April. Shouldn’t these two pro volleyball leagues have a championship series at the end? Wouldn’t a merger be the best possible thing for the sport of volleyball? See you next month, ladies. I can still sense a Nebraska volleyball hangover with Husker fans. That’s the impact that team had on folks. Those ladies reached in and grabbed them by the heart. It was an incredible ride and they celebrated all the joys. But that pain at the end is going to leave a mark. The four College Football Playoff quarter final match-ups look terrific. Like, get-me-to-a-TV on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 terrific. So, is eight the right number? Don't give up on 12 yet. I still like 12. I’m a brand name sports guy. I like watching the big boys battle for championships. But I also want the non-brands, the little guys, in there. Underdogs bring a lot to the postseason. They bring the "what if" factor. What if the long shot gets on a roll? That's why we watch. You wouldn't just want a playoff with all SEC and Big Ten teams would you? That's not a national championship. The first-round blowouts weren’t good. But it happens, and it happened in the four-team playoff era. But one day there will be upsets, too. Football can't be basketball. But upsets are the magic in the NCAA tournament. When the field was announced, I thought Indiana and SMU belonged. A loss on an opponent's home field can't change that. Alabama’s problem was its loss to Oklahoma. And who would have imagined that OU would drag mighty Bama out of the playoff? I’m real tired of the SEC whining. It just hurts more. Hey, you guys wanted OU and Texas. You got ‘em. There has been arguing and debates over college football's national champion forever. Expansion to 12 was never going to change that. Until the college game goes to 32 teams and puts them into divisions, ala the NFL, with equal scheduling, there's going to be arguing. I would only change one thing with the first weekend: no first-round byes. The campus atmospheres were fabulous. Give me more of ‘em. One of the great things about the transfer portal is when an athlete settles in and makes the community better. Creighton senior Steven Ashworth is doing that. Ashworth is headlining a local charitable initiative called “Light The World.” The unique project features vending machines, or “Giving Machines,” which are located in Westroads Mall near Von Maur. The machines offer items (10 Blankets for $50 for a homeless shelter) that people can swipe a credit card and donate the item of their choice. The machines will be at Westroads until Dec. 31. Ashworth and a group of Creighton athletes from men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball will be at Westroads on Dec. 28 between 5-8 p.m., to visit and sign autographs. Bill Belichick is used to coaching the best of the best. The majority of college football players are not NFL players. They work hard, and they can make mistakes. Belichick will recruit well at North Carolina, but he’s not going to have an NFL roster. There are going to be mistakes. How will he deal with that? I bet this caught Belichick’s attention: Tulane redshirt quarterback Darian Mensah hit the portal and wound up at Duke. According to CBS Sports, Mensah received an NIL deal at Duke reportedly worth $8 million over two years. When did North Carolina and Duke start spending like Ohio State and Alabama for football? The New Year is upon us. I’m taking nominations for top sports stories in 2024. Send them my way this week. Get local news delivered to your inbox!

California will revive its own subsidy programs for electric vehicles if Donald Trump guts US federal tax breaks for such cars, the state's governor said Monday. The president-elect has said repeatedly he would scrap what he called the "electric vehicle mandate" -- actually a $7,500 federal rebate for anyone who purchases an EV. Gavin Newsom, who heads the solidly Democratic state and has pitched himself as a leader of the anti-Trump political resistance, said Monday California was not "turning back" towards polluting transport. "We will intervene if the Trump Administration eliminates the federal tax credit, doubling down on our commitment to clean air and green jobs in California," Newsom said. "We're not turning back on a clean transportation future -- we're going to make it more affordable for people to drive vehicles that don't pollute," he added. "Consumers continue to prove the skeptics wrong -– zero-emission vehicles are here to stay." If Trump scraps the tax credit, California could revive its own Clean Vehicle Rebate Project, which ran until November 2023, granting rebates of up to $7,500 for people buying battery-powered cars, a press release said. California leads the nation in electric vehicle adoption, and is the single biggest market in the country, representing around a third of all units sold in the United States. State figures show that more than two million so-called "zero emission vehicles" -- which include fully electric vehicles as well as plug-in hybrids -- have now been sold in the state, with one-in-four new cars in that category. On the campaign trail, Trump was frequently hostile to electric vehicles, which he has linked with what he calls the "hoax" of climate change. He vowed repeatedly that under his watch the United States would become "energy dominant," chiefly through expanded oil and gas extraction. For many in California, such pledges are anathema, with the state frequently battered by the tangible effects of climate change, from huge wildfires to droughts to furious storms. Newsom -- who many believe has White House ambitions of his own -- has positioned himself as a bulwark against the feared excesses of an incoming Trump administration on issues from climate change to immigration, vowing to be a check on its power. With 40 million people, the sheer size of California's market has for a long time helped set the national tone when it comes to pollution standards for automakers. Rather than make two versions of the same vehicles, Detroit giants have willingly adopted California's tougher rules on emissions and efficiency for nationwide sales. That de facto standard-setting power has angered Republicans like Trump, who say -- on this issue -- states should not be allowed to set their own rules. hg/ahaArtificial Intelligence is everywhere—on smartphones, tablets, and laptops. So, why should projectors and monitors be left behind in this wave of generative AI? In an exclusive interaction with Mint, BenQ India MD Rajeev Singh talked about the company's plans of adding artificial intelligence to all its products, upcoming product launches and more. BenQ focuses on integrating AI to enhance customer experience: Outlining BenQ's plans of adding artificial intelligence to all its products, Singh said, “Our big focus is on AI, integrating AI into all our products. I think AI has really come in now. It is about how to implement it in products and enhance the customer experience." Explaining a new AI feature that BenQ has brought to its Interactive Flat Panels, Singh said, “When accessing any content on the interactive panel, it is continuously scanning your pictures or videos and the moment you put any kind of content which is not proper, it will immediately block it." “AI is scanning all content before it actually gets projected on the screen. So it is happening on a real-time basis." Singh further explained When asked if the definition of ‘improper content’ content can actually be tweaked by the user, Singh confirmed that the feature isn't customizable at the moment and runs on what he called a ‘standard’ algorithm. While confirming plans for a new projector, Singh said, “We are launching our first projector with in-built AI cinema. We will be launching that in the next two to three months time frame. There is no such projector available in the industry right now from any of the brands." What is AI Cinema, then? Singh says the new feature will analyze different frames and optimize the projector's image quality, meaning there will be no need to change the picture settings depending on the content playing on the screen. Projector is a premium market: Asked about the growing premiumization trend in the Indian market, Singh said, Singh said BenQ primarily operates in the premium segment and is ‘very comfortable’ with that. “More and more high-end products in the industry are launched by us, and people are really going towards that. People are not moving towards more affordable devices... So, the first-time projector buyer might go for a cheaper projector, but after you have a projector once, next time, wherever you are going to buy it, you will be very heavily discerning about what you want to buy. So that's all a premium market." BenQ looking at millennials for portable projectors: Singh also revealed that BenQ was targeting millennials with its portable projectors, catering to their preference for mobile and easy-to-handle devices. He said, “The main target audience for portable speaker is the millennials, because today's young people, their attention span is getting shorter and shorter, so they have very different habits, as compared to like people who are like 40 years old... They want everything mobile. So the mobile projector, or portable projector, fits into their kind of concept. " "They like portable projectors because it does not occupy much space and it is mobile. We have seen many people in this generation who don't have a TV, but they have a portable projector because they don't like that kind of a setup. They like this kind of a setup which is so much easier, and they can carry it with them anywhere.", the BenQ India MD added. BOGOTÁ, Colombia (AP) — One of Colombia’s legendary drug lords and a key operator of the Medellin cartel has been deported back to the South American country, after serving 25 years of a 30-year prison sentence in the United States. A short while later, Fabio Ochoa was again a free man. Ochoa arrived in Bogota on a deportation flight on Monday afternoon, wearing a modest grey sweatshirt and carrying his personal belongings in a plastic bag. After stepping out of the plane, Ochoa was met by immigration officials in bullet proof vests. There were no police on site to detain him. Immigration officials took his fingerprints and confirmed through a database that Ochoa is not wanted by Colombian authorities. The country's immigration agency said on the social media platform X that Ochoa was “freed so that he could join his family.” “I was framed,” Ochoa claimed as reporters at Bogota’s El Dorado Airport asked if he regretted his actions. The former cartel boss smiled as he hugged his daughter, whom he had not seen in seven years, and said he would go to Medellin to live with his family. “The nightmare is over” said Ochoa, 67. Ochoa and his older brothers amassed a fortune when cocaine started flooding the U.S. in the late 1970s and early 1980s, according to U.S. authorities, to the point that in 1987 they were included in the Forbes Magazine’s list of billionaires. Living in Miami, Ochoa ran a distribution center for the cocaine cartel once headed by Pablo Escobar . Escobar died in a shootout with authorities in Medellin in 1993. Ochoa was first indicted in the U.S. for his alleged role in the 1986 killing of Barry Seal, an American pilot who flew cocaine flights for the Medellin cartel, but became an informant for the Drug Enforcement Administration. Along with his two older brothers, Juan David and Jorge Luis, Ochoa turned himself in to Colombian authorities in the early 1990s under a deal in which they avoided being extradited to the U.S. The three brothers were released from prison in 1996, but Ochoa was arrested again three years later for drug trafficking and was extradited to the U.S. in 2001 in response to an indictment in Miami naming him and more than 40 people as part of a drug smuggling conspiracy. He was the only suspect in that group who opted to go to trial, resulting in his conviction and a 30-year sentence. The other defendants got much lighter prison terms because most of them cooperated with the government. Ochoa’s name has faded from popular memory as Mexican drug traffickers take center stage in the global drug trade. But the former member of the Medellin cartel was recently depicted in the Netflix series Griselda, where he first fights the plucky businesswoman Griselda Blanco for control of Miami's cocaine market, and then makes an alliance with the drug trafficker, played by Sofia Vergara. Ochoa is also depicted in the Netflix series Narcos, as the youngest son of an elite Medellin family that is into ranching and horse breeding and cuts a sharp contrast with Escobar, who came from more humble roots. Richard Gregorie, a retired assistant U.S. attorney who was on the prosecution team that convicted Ochoa, said authorities were never able to seize all of the Ochoa family’s illicit drug proceeds and he expects that the former mafia boss will have a welcome return home. “He won’t be retiring a poor man, that’s for sure,” Gregorie told The Associated Press earlier this month.Video game ends ‘collaboration’ with Conor McGregorKumho Tire cruises toward meeting 2024 sales guidance

bmy777net Social media users are misrepresenting a report released Thursday by the Justice Department inspector general's office, falsely claiming that it's proof the FBI orchestrated the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021. The watchdog report examined a number of areas, including whether major intelligence failures preceded the riot and whether the FBI in some way provoked the violence. Claims spreading online focus on the report's finding that 26 FBI informants were in Washington for election-related protests on Jan. 6, including three who had been tasked with traveling to the city to report on others who were potentially planning to attend the events. Although 17 of those informants either entered the Capitol or a restricted area around the building during the riot, none of the 26 total informants were authorized to do so by the bureau, according to the report. Nor were they authorized to otherwise break the law or encourage others to do so. Here's a closer look at the facts. CLAIM: A December 2024 report released by the Department of Justice's Office of the Inspector General is proof that the Jan. 6 Capitol riot was a setup by the FBI. THE FACTS: That's false. The report found that no undercover FBI employees were at the riot on Jan. 6 and that none of the bureau's informants were authorized to participate. Informants, also known as confidential human sources, work with the FBI to provide information, but are not on the bureau’s payroll. Undercover agents are employed by the FBI. According to the report, 26 informants were in Washington on Jan. 6 in connection with the day's events. FBI field offices only informed the Washington Field Office or FBI headquarters of five informants that were to be in the field on Jan. 6. Of the total 26 informants, four entered the Capitol during the riot and an additional 13 entered a restricted area around the Capitol. But none were authorized to do so by the FBI, nor were they given permission to break other laws or encourage others to do the same. The remaining nine informants did not engage in any illegal activities. None of the 17 informants who entered the Capitol or surrounding restricted area have been prosecuted, the report says. A footnote states that after reviewing a draft of the report, the U.S. attorney's office in Washington said that it “generally has not charged those individuals whose only crime on January 6, 2021 was to enter restricted grounds surrounding the Capitol, which has resulted in the Office declining to charge hundreds of individuals; and we have treated the CHSs consistent with this approach.” The assistant special agent in charge of the Washington Field Office's counterterrorism division told the inspector general's office that he “denied a request from an FBI office to have an undercover employee engage in investigative activity on January 6.” He, along with then-Washington Field Office Assistant Director in Charge Steven D'Antuono, said that FBI policy prohibits undercover employees at First Amendment-protected events without investigative authority. Many social media users drew false conclusions from the report's findings. “JANUARY 6th WAS A SETUP!" reads one X post that had received more than 11,400 likes and shares as of Friday. “New inspector general report shows that 26 FBI/DOJ confidential sources were in the crowd on January 6th, and some of them went into the Capitol and restricted areas. Is it a coincidence that Wray put in his resignation notice yesterday? TREASON!” The mention of Wray's resignation refers to FBI Director Christopher Wray's announcement Wednesday that he plans to resign at the end of President Joe Biden's term in January. Other users highlighted the fact that there were 26 FBI informants in Washington on Jan. 6, but omitted key information about the findings of the report. These claims echo a fringe conspiracy theory advanced by some Republicans in Congress that the FBI played a role in instigating the events of Jan. 6, 2021, when rioters determined to overturn Republican Donald Trump's 2020 election loss to Democrat Joe Biden stormed the Capitol in a violent clash with police. The report knocks that theory down. Wray called such theories “ludicrous” at a congressional hearing last year. The inspector general's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the false claims about its report. In addition to its findings about the the FBI's involvement on Jan. 6, the report said that the FBI, in an action its now-deputy director described as a “basic step that was missed,” failed to canvass informants across all 56 of its field offices for any relevant intelligence ahead of time. That was a step, the report concluded, “that could have helped the FBI and its law enforcement partners with their preparations in advance of January 6.” However, it did credit the bureau for preparing for the possibility of violence and for trying to identify known “domestic terrorism subjects” who planned to come to Washington that day. The FBI said in a letter responding to the report that it accepts the inspection general’s recommendation “regarding potential process improvements for future events.” — Find AP Fact Checks here: https://apnews.com/APFactCheck .

Andy Murray is to take over as coach for his old rival Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open. Here, the PA news agency looks at the seven Grand Slam finals contested by the pair. Murray turned in a poor performance in Melbourne, failing at the third attempt to win a set in a Grand Slam final as Djokovic broke serve seven times and hit six aces to claim a comprehensive win 6-4 6-2 6-3. “You had an unbelievable tournament and deserved to win,” the Scot said in reference to his opponent. “I look forward to playing against you in the future.” It took five sets for Murray to claim his first Grand Slam title, becoming the first British man to achieve the feat since Fred Perry in 1936. The final clocked in at four hours and 54 minutes as Murray prevailed 7-6 (10) 7-5 2-6 3-6 6-2 to end a wait of 287 tournaments in British male tennis for a victory. “I want to congratulate Andy on his first grand slam, he thoroughly deserves it,” said Djokovic. “I really tried my best. I gave it my all. It was a tremendous match.” Congrats @DjokerNole . Incredible athlete. Perfect gentleman. #ausopen — judy murray (@JudyMurray) January 27, 2013 Murray was dogged by injury in Melbourne with a heavily strapped right foot and a tight hamstring as Djokovic fought back from a set down to land a third consecutive Australian Open title, 6-7 (2) 7-6 (3) 6-3 6-2. “His record here is incredible,” said Murray. ”Very few people have managed to do what he has done, a deserved champion.” Murray ended a 77-year wait for a British men’s victory at Wimbledon by defeating his old foe 6-4, 7-5, 6-4 in SW19, serving emphatically with nine aces and only two double faults to throw off the weight of history. The Scot had been 4-1 down in the second set as the match threatened to slip away from him and with it the chance to cement his place in tennis folklore, but having wasted three championship points he finally sealed the deal when Djokovic drove into the net with his final shot. A post shared by Novak Djokovic (@djokernole) Djokovic triumphed 7-6 (5) 6-7 (4) 6-3 6-0 and after the 24 matches and five grand slam finals the pair had played against each other across nine years, the Serb had established a 16-8 overall lead and 3-2 in slam finals. “Success is being happy,” said Murray. “It’s not about winning every single tournament you play, because that isn’t possible.” What a journey. Really grateful for everything. I'll keep working hard. Love is the key! pic.twitter.com/CrT7TYRL3O — Novak Djokovic (@DjokerNole) January 31, 2016 The Serb landed a fourth win over Murray in Australian Open finals and his 11th in 12 matches to land his 11th major title, whilst the Scot made it five consecutive final losses in Melbourne, a new record in the Open era. “I feel like I’ve been here before,” said Murray after a 6-1 7-5 7-6 (3) loss. “Congratulations Novak, six Australian Opens, an incredible feat, and incredible consistency the last year.” "This is something that’s so rare in tennis... it’s gonna take a long time for it to happen again" Andy to Novak ❤️ pic.twitter.com/LN7dW8ZJED — Roland-Garros (@rolandgarros) June 5, 2016 This was Murray’s first final at Roland Garros but it brought a familiar conclusion as Djokovic triumphed against him for the fifth time in seven Grand Slam finals. The 3-6 6-1 6-2 6-4 success was a first win for the Serb in Paris and saw him hold all four slams simultaneously. Murray went on to win Wimbledon the following month and was voted BBC Sports Personality of the Year but, addressing Djokovic in Paris, said: “This is his day today. What he’s achieved the last 12 months is phenomenal, winning all four of the grand slams in one year is an amazing achievement.”

A major piece of LeBron and Bronny James history is up for grabs ... with the jerseys the father-son duo wore in their season-opening game hitting the auction block TOGETHER -- and, yeah, they ain't gonna come cheap. The one-of-a-kind memorabilia set is available via Sotheby's ... and has already reached $70,000 with almost two weeks left for bidding. Both jerseys are believed to have been worn for the Lakers' first game of the 2024-25 campaign against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Oct. 22 ... which L.A. won 110-103. LeBron scored 16 points in the contest ... adding four assists and five rebounds. While LeBron's threads were authenticated with visuals from the night, Bronny’s jersey is a bit more complicated -- it was photo-matched to the second half of the opener ... but with the lack of photos of the 20-year-old without his warmups on prior to the game, it is unknown if it was the same one he wore during his historic moment with his father. The jersey has "First Game 2D Half 10/22" written on the jock tag ... so chances are, he swapped unis during halftime -- and the jersey in this auction is not the exact one he wore when he entered the game in the second quarter. The James duo also wore these jerseys in other appearances ... including media day and preseason matchups. Game-worn LeBron jerseys are popular on the auction block ... with one even selling for $3 million. As for Bronny, his Summer League debut top had a price tag of over $38k. The auction will close on December 4 ... so fans of the James Gang have a bit of time to scrap together some dough.LAS VEGAS (AP) — Formula 1 on Monday at last said it will expand its grid in 2026 to make room for an American team that is partnered with General Motors. “As the pinnacle of motorsports, F1 demands boundary-pushing innovation and excellence. It’s an honor for General Motors and Cadillac to join the world’s premier racing series, and we’re committed to competing with passion and integrity to elevate the sport for race fans around the world," GM President Mark Reuss said. "This is a global stage for us to demonstrate GM’s engineering expertise and technology leadership at an entirely new level.” The approval ends years of wrangling that launched a U.S. Justice Department investigation into why Colorado-based Liberty Media, the commercial rights holder of F1, would not approve the team initially started by Michael Andretti. Andretti in September stepped aside from leading his namesake organization, so the 11th team will be called Cadillac F1 and be run by new Andretti Global majority owners Dan Towriss and Mark Walter. The team will use Ferrari engines its first two years until GM has a Cadillac engine built for competition in time for the 2028 season. Towriss is the the CEO and president of Group 1001 and entered motorsports via Andretti's IndyCar team when he signed on financial savings platform Gainbridge as a sponsor. Towriss is now a major part of the motorsports scene with ownership stakes in both Spire Motorsports' NASCAR team and Wayne Taylor Racing's sports car team. Walter is the chief executive of financial services firm Guggenheim Partners and the controlling owner of both the World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers and Premier League club Chelsea. “We’re excited to partner with General Motors in bringing a dynamic presence to Formula 1," Towriss said. “Together, we’re assembling a world-class team that will embody American innovation and deliver unforgettable moments to race fans around the world.” Mario Andretti, the 1978 F1 world champion, will have an ambassador role with Cadillac F1. But his son, Michael, will have no official position with the organization now that he has scaled back his involvement with Andretti Global. “The Cadillac F1 Team is made up of a strong group of people that have worked tirelessly to build an American works team,” Michael Andretti posted on social media. “I’m very proud of the hard work they have put in and congratulate all involved on this momentous next step. I will be cheering for you!” The approval has been in works for weeks but was held until after last weekend's Las Vegas Grand Prix to not overshadow the showcase event of the Liberty Media portfolio. Max Verstappen won his fourth consecutive championship in Saturday night's race, the third and final stop in the United States for the top motorsports series in the world. Grid expansion in F1 is both infrequent and often unsuccessful. Four teams were granted entries in 2010 that should have pushed the grid to 13 teams and 26 cars for the first time since 1995. One team never made it to the grid and the other three had vanished by 2017. There is only one American team on the current F1 grid — owned by California businessman Gene Haas — but it is not particularly competitive and does not field American drivers. Andretti’s dream was to field a truly American team with American drivers. The fight to add this team has been going on for three-plus years and F1 initially denied the application despite approval from F1 sanctioning body FIA . The existing 10 teams, who have no voice in the matter, also largely opposed expansion because of the dilution in prize money and the billions of dollars they’ve already invested in the series. Andretti in 2020 tried and failed to buy the existing Sauber team. From there, he applied for grid expansion and partnered with GM, the top-selling manufacturer in the United States. The inclusion of GM was championed by the FIA and president Mohammed Ben Sulayem, who said Michael Andretti’s application was the only one of seven applicants to meet all required criteria to expand F1’s current grid. “General Motors is a huge global brand and powerhouse in the OEM world and is working with impressive partners," Ben Sulayem said Monday. "I am fully supportive of the efforts made by the FIA, Formula 1, GM and the team to maintain dialogue and work towards this outcome of an agreement in principle to progress this application." Despite the FIA's acceptance of Andretti and General Motors from the start, F1 wasn't interested in Andretti — but did want GM. At one point, F1 asked GM to find another team to partner with besides Andretti. GM refused and F1 said it would revisit the Andretti application if and when Cadillac had an engine ready to compete. “Formula 1 has maintained a dialogue with General Motors, and its partners at TWG Global, regarding the viability of an entry following the commercial assessment and decision made by Formula 1 in January 2024,” F1 said in a statement. “Over the course of this year, they have achieved operational milestones and made clear their commitment to brand the 11th team GM/Cadillac, and that GM will enter as an engine supplier at a later time. Formula 1 is therefore pleased to move forward with this application process." Yet another major shift in the debate over grid expansion occurred earlier this month with the announced resignation of Liberty Media CEO Greg Maffei, who was largely believed to be one of the biggest opponents of the Andretti entry. “With Formula 1’s continued growth plans in the US, we have always believed that welcoming an impressive US brand like GM/Cadillac to the grid and GM as a future power unit supplier could bring additional value and interest to the sport," Maffei said. "We credit the leadership of General Motors and their partners with significant progress in their readiness to enter Formula 1." As she prepared to leave for winter vacation, Tracey Pauline Albert, a master’s student at Columbia University originally from India, took no chances with her return plans. Her flight back to the U.S. was carefully scheduled to land well before Jan. 20. Columbia is one of a handful of U.S. colleges and universities that have been cautioning their international student bodies to return to campus early to avoid any travel delays. Some schools are specifically advising students to arrive before President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20. The University of Southern California, Cornell University, Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology are among the schools that have advised concerned students to return to campus early. “There is a palpable sense of anxiety among internationals regarding the ambiguity surrounding immigration policies,” Albert, who is studying for a Master of Public Administration, told NBC News via email. “Small adjustments, like ensuring one is back in the U.S. before key dates such as January 20th, are manageable. However, the question of what comes after remains.” For students like Albert, who carefully navigate the complexities of living and studying in the U.S., the looming uncertainty of Trump’s second term has reignited fears of travel bans and stricter immigration rules. Schools say they are attempting to help, providing resources for visa holders and saying they can help mobilize in the event of an emergency. “Based on previous experience with travel bans that were enacted in the first Trump Administration ... the Office of Global Affairs is making this advisory out of an abundance of caution,” a University of Massachusetts Amherst office wrote on Instagram . “We are not able to speculate on what a travel ban will look like if enacted, nor can we speculate on what particular countries or regions of the world may or may not be affected.” Though not directly referencing inauguration, a note from Harvard said that it’s monitoring immigration policy closely. It encouraged international students to arrive well before the start of the semester. Referencing Trump’s Muslim travel ban, which was first put into effect just days after he took office in 2017, Cornell encouraged students to carry their papers with them at all times when traveling. “Ensure that they are up to date, and bring additional paperwork demonstrating your purpose at Cornell,” the university wrote . Lingering Muslim ban-driven fears Trump’s initial executive order, signed a week into his first term, barred all travelers from seven Muslim-majority countries for 90 days. It left some students and faculty who were out of town stranded or held at the airport. “For most of the students, they were essentially stopped from boarding the flight,” said Gaurav Khanna, an associate professor of economics and immigration scholar at the University of California, San Diego. “There were a lot of students who did get detained. Some, for instance, if they were transiting through Canada, they couldn’t get on the last leg.” The ban was ruled unconstitutional, but was ultimately upheld by the Supreme Court in 2018. President Joe Biden repealed it when he took office in 2021. Though it’s unclear whether Trump will reinstate the ban, students have expressed concern over past controversial statements he’s made about deporting protesters on college campuses. “When I am president, we will not allow our colleges to be taken over by violent radicals,” Trump said at a rally in New Jersey earlier this year. “If you come here from another country and try to bring jihadism or anti-Americanism or antisemitism to our campuses, we will immediately deport you.” Though the largest numbers of international students in the U.S. come from India and China, experts say even the fear of potential bans could create a chilling effect on enrollment at universities. For Chinese students especially, this post-Covid fear coincides with a dip in their enrollment numbers at U.S. schools. “Given the tensions with China and the large number of students from China, there is this uncertainty,” Khanna said. “That can hurt not just the students, but the universities broadly. Even if the administration doesn’t actually end up doing anything in the short run, that fear might not go away for a while, and as a result it’s going to hurt enrollment.”

On Dec. 6, the Berkeley Chamber of Commerce marked the grand opening of the fifth Berkeley Community Resource Hub, located at the Tri-Community Center, 1708 Poplar Hill Drive in Cross. These Hubs represent the Berkeley Chamber’s commitment to strengthening rural communities by providing essential resources such as broadband internet, telehealth access, educational tools and workforce training opportunities. “It’s an effort to give every citizen in Berkeley County an opportunity,” said Elaine Morgan, CEO of the Berkeley County Chamber of Commerce. “Because of the barriers, there were two Berkeley Counties; now there is inclusion.” Each Hub has been outfitted with cutting-edge technology, including free high-speed Wi-Fi, telehealth computers, Chromebooks and other equipment to serve the community’s diverse needs. The hubs are meant to narrow the chasms of the haves and have-nots in the county that is expanding and modernizing in some places while others are left behind. It’s a statewide problem. “I am here to tell you the digital divide in South Carolina is going to be solved in the next year or two,” said Tom Allen, the chief technology officer for the South Carolina Office of Regulatory Staff, the agency tasked with solving the digital divide in the state. “This technology is moving into areas that may have never had it before. People have never used this technology. They may not have the skills and education. South Carolina has acquired an additional $ 12.8 million with the legislature’s support to come in and provide funding for digital literacy programs and educational programs.” The hubs are bringing those rural communities into the fold. So far, rural communities in Cainhoy and Alvin have been connected, and this past October, the Wassmassaw community was also plugged into the Wi-Fi network. The site at 1023 Queenie Road serves the Sheep Island and Long Ridge areas. The initiative depends on an existing brick-and-mortar building. All of the sites are long overdue, but it is happening, and elected officials in rural areas are happy to share this with their constituents, who now have an open door to better help themselves. “When we learn how to come together, stay together and work together, we can make things happen in our community,” said Berkeley County Council member Caldwell Pinckney. “We talk about politicians not doing this for you or not doing that for you. Nobody will do more for you than what you can do for yourselves.”MSU Bobcats win "Can the Griz" food drive, raising over 1.3 million lbs. of food together with UMYALE 91, FAIRFIELD 66

TORONTO, ON / ACCESSWIRE / December 23, 2024 / Cerrado Gold Inc. (TSX.V:CERT)(OTCQX:CRDOF)(FRA:BAI0) ("Cerrado" or the "Company") announces that it and its wholly owned subsidiary, Minera Don Nicolas S.A. ("MDN"), have entered into an option agreement ("Option Agreement") with Cerro Vanguardia S.A. ("CVSA") a wholly-owned subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti Holdings Plc, whereby MDN has granted to CVSA the option ("Option") to purchase a 100% interest (the "Transaction") in certain properties (the "Michelle Properties") located in the south region of MDN's Minera Don Nicolas Project in Santa Cruz, Argentina, for total consideration of the Argentina peso equivalent of US$14 million (approximately C$19 million) (the "Purchase Price"), subject to the fulfilment of certain conditions. The Option Agreement was ratified December 23, 2024, with effect December 18, 2024.Minera Don Nicolas Enters Option Agreement with AngloGold Ashanti Argentinian Subsidiary, Cerro Vanguardia SA, for the Sale of its Michelle Exploration Properties for Total Consideration of US$14 Million The Purchase Price is payable in the following stages: During the Option Period CVSA will take operational control of the Michelle Properties. Mark Brennan, CEO and Chairman commented: "The option of these non-core properties to CVSA, the logical owner of these properties, is highly accretive to Cerrado and its shareholders. The Transaction will immediately improve the balance sheet and short-term capital position at MDN, allowing us to focus on our core properties. With current strong operating cashflows at MDN and capital proceeds from asset sales, we are very well positioned to pursue strong growth programs at MDN and at our Mont Sorcier high grade iron project, as well as look at additional opportunities to grow the Company in the near term." Transaction Summary and Details The Michelle Properties are a collection of 14exploration concessions, totaling approximately 14,000 hectares located approximately 100 km to the South-East of the MDN plant and 10 km to the North-West of CVSA's Cerro Vanguardia Mine. The Michelle Properties are highlighted in the following map: MDN will receive from CVSA the Argentina CCL peso equivalent of US$4 million to MDN on or about December 27, 2024. CVSA may exercise the Option at its sole discretion at any time within three (3) years unless earlier terminated (the "Option Period") by providing an exercise notice to MDN and paying the exercise price of the Argentina pesos equivalent of US$10 million. The Option may be exercised at CVSA's sole discretion at any time during the Option Period, provided that the required payment has been paid by CVSA. Pursuant to the terms of the Option Agreement, CVSA is intended to assume operational control of the Michelle Properties from the date of the Option Agreement until the expiry of the Option Period. Royalty and Stream Holders Concurrent with the Transaction, MDN obtained prior written consents to the Transaction and exercise of the Option from all holders of royalties and metals streams applicable to the Michelle Properties (the "Consents"), including RG Royalties, LLC ("Royal Gold"), a subsidiary of Royal Gold Inc., Sandstorm Gold Limited ("Sandstorm"), a subsidiary of Sandstorm Gold Royalties, and Sprott Private Resource Streaming and Royalty (B) Corp. ("Sprott"). Receipt of the Consents reduces risks and expedites closing if CVSA elects to exercise the Option. Prior to executing the Option Agreement, Royal Gold was paid all accrued royalty amounts outstanding as of September 30, 2024, and Sandstorm was paid a lump sum. Both Royal Gold and Sandstorm agreed to waive all accrued interest and penalties on royalty amounts outstanding as of September 30, 2024, provided that in the case of Sandstorm, all royalty amounts are paid when due in instalments over the next two quarters. The waiver of accrued interest and penalties, taken together with the repayment of outstanding royalties, results in substantial reductions of Company accounts payable. In connection with the Consents and the waiver of interest and penalties, the Company provided corporate guarantees to Royal Gold and Sandstorm relating to their royalty agreements with MDN, and MDN and has conditionally agreed to pay Sandstorm up to US$500,000 in connection with a cap on royalty payments on the Michelle Properties subject to the existing maximum royalty amount of approximately $1,300,000 that may be payable to Sandstorm under the applicable Sandstorm royalty agreement. Real Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini was quick to back Vitor Roque after the team’s draw with Rayo Vallecano last time out. The Brazilian did not score in the match, and has only managed four goals all season, but has still reportedly attracted interest from Palmeiras . Yet Pellegrini seems happy with Vitor Roque who is currently on loan from Barcelona . “He is a young player who is starting his career. He is 19 years old, so we cannot demand from him the experience that a footballer with more games under his belt has,” he told reporters. “He spent the 90 minutes running, trying to create opportunities. He caused the penalty, had a cross-field chance that he failed to convert and a one-on-one with the goalkeeper and as he gains confidence, he will also improve his precision in finishing inside the area. He is a player in full growth who brings us a lot.” Palmeiras are said to be prepared to spend 20 million euros on Vitor Roque but it’s not known if the youngster would be interested in returning to Brazil. Relevo are now reporting that Tottenham also scouted Vitor Roque during the match, suggesting he is also a target for the north London side.

The Director of Elections for the Ablekuma North constituency, Daniel Yaw Tornyigah, has vowed to take legal action if the Electoral Commission (EC) attempts to overturn the earlier declaration of Ewura Abena Aubyn as the duly elected Member of Parliament (MP) for the area. In a press conference, Tornyigah reiterated that the NDC’s victory in Ablekuma North was the result of hard work and vigilance, reflecting the will of more than 70,000 voters. He emphasized that the party would not accept any attempt to reverse the decision made by the electorate. Tornyigah expressed concerns over the recent coalition of seven constituencies out of nine, which were declared for the NPP by the EC, raising questions about the commission’s impartiality. He accused the EC of potentially favoring the NPP, casting doubt on the transparency and fairness of the process. “We urge the Electoral Commission to uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, and fairness. The people of Ablekuma North deserve nothing less. We are committed to protecting this mandate and will legally challenge any effort to subvert the people’s choice,” Tornyigah stated.Black Ops 6 devs explain why they nerfed CoD’s movement after MW19
